Shephard Hills Golf Club:
A Historic Course in Roxbury

Shephard Hills Golf Club offers a unique golfing experience steeped in Roxbury’s history. Originally part of the estate of Helen Gould Shepard, daughter of railroad magnate Jay Gould, the land boasts a rich past.

Construction of the 9-hole course began around 1916, serving as a private retreat for the Shepards’ guests. The former guesthouse, a remarkable stone structure commissioned by the Gould family in 1911, now houses the clubhouse, pro shop and Ate O Ate – a full service restaurant.

In 1972, the property transitioned to a membership-driven, public course managed by the Shephard Hills Golf Association. Longtime Shephard Hills golfer Frank Adamiak took ownership in 2000, ensuring its legacy continues. Frank continues to invest in course improvements and the greenskeepers are dedicated to ensure the course remain in pristine condition.

Today, Shephard Hills Golf Club offers a classic golfing experience in a spectacular setting. Strategically placed tee boxes and back tees transform the 9 holes into a challenging 18-hole round. Breathtaking mountain views accompany golfers throughout their game, while the historic clubhouse provides a comfortable haven to unwind afterwards.
